I don't know who this guy is but based on this video he has no idea what he's talking about. He states the obvious with much effort. Check out Carl Verheyen's (who is also very annoying but more informative) videos on the vintage stuff.

Outstanding video. Weider is a exceptionally tasteful guitarist, and seems like a down-to-earth guy. No pretension. And man, do I love that Telecaster.

actually this guy is a very accomplished musician with his own signature amp head out so do a little research before making such an arrogant remark.

the bridge pickupof a strat kind of sounds somewhat like a tele, but if your ear is really keen to a tele, the only thing that sounds like one, is one. but i do agree with the simplicity being better, its just that a lot of more modern amatuer guitar players dont know what to do when they pick one up, but if you know how to tame the beast the sound is better than any (in my opinion)

not exactly. first of teles sound amazing, and simplicity is often better. also i can get tele sounds with my strat but its not a normal fender

plus jimmy page did all of led zep I on a tele, and he recruited it several more times throughout his carrer other than stairway. (hot dog, all of my love, ect.)

yeah your right, since they are so basic, it is harder to make it sound good, but if you really know what you doing they can be one of the best axes around. plus, there is no way to fake the tele sound, you can slap a few humbuckers and a load of knobs on anything and get pretty close to a lp sound, but the only way to get a real tele sound is through a real tele.
